Isabel B Blake
6/6/1930 - 8/18/2025
Isabel B. Blake, age 95, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025. She was born on June 8, 1930, to Walter Ridgley O’Sullivan, Sr. and Olive Henrietta Stark O’Sullivan.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 51 years, William T. Blake, Sr.; and her brothers Walter Ridgley O’Sullivan, Jr. (Elizabeth), William O’Sullivan (Elizabeth Anne), and Warren O’Sullivan (Frances).
She is survived by her six children: Thomas Blake (Norma), Walter Blake (Sharon), William T. Blake, Jr., Barbara Blake, Dorothy Turnbull (Bruce), and Daniel Blake. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will continue to cherish her memory.
In addition to providing a safe and loving home for her husband, her mother-in-law, and her six children, Isabel dedicated her time and talents to her community. She held leadership positions with the Girl Scouts of America, The Lupus Foundation of Kentuckiana, The American Red Cross, and the Eagle Creek Condominium Association.
Her extraordinary sewing and knitting skills led her to open an Etsy shop, where her handmade American Girl doll clothes received hundreds of glowing reviews and gained her many repeat customers.
Diagnosed with Lupus in 1959, Isabel fought tirelessly for her health and her family. A consummate homemaker, she consistently cared for a bustling household of nine, putting dinner on the table every night while embracing every family event, vacation, and even the care of countless pets—from ducks and rabbits to dogs, cats, and more.
She marveled at the many changes she witnessed over her lifetime, from space exploration to advances in technology and medicine. Yet, what stood out most to her were the strides in women’s rights. She often shared how she was not allowed to have a bank account or credit card until she was well into her 40s, a change she celebrated as one of the greatest shifts of her lifetime.
Isabel will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to her family, her tireless spirit, and the love she poured into everything she did. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, service, and unwavering care that will be carried forward by her family and all who knew her.
