Obituary

Phyllis Joan Smith (nee Duncan), age 73, passed away on Independence Day 2023. She will be lovingly missed by family and friends as she starts her journey with the Lord. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Vilora Duncan and her brother, David Duncan. Phyllis is survived by her sister, Diane Stanfield (Louis), her brother Michael Duncan (Barbara), her sister-in-law Elberta Duncan, her stepson Jeremy Smith of Herrin, IL, one niece and eight nephews, and many dear friends in both Louisville and Herrin, IL. Phyllis immensely enjoyed the company of her friends at Sacred Heart Village where she resided and her decades-long friends in Herrin, IL. In her younger days, Phyllis was a published writer and a talented artist at wood burning, both portraits and nature. Phyllis will be buried with her Mother and Father at Louisville Memorial Gardens.
