Michael Burnside Curry

Michael Burnside Curry, 79, passed away in Greenville, IN after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Gallipolis, OH, he was raised in Charleston, WV, and graduated from Charleston High School and West Virginia University.  Mike was athletic, adventurous, and creative with a fun sense of humor. He worked in banking in his early years in several southern states including One Valley Bank in WVA and First Union in NC. After banking, he created a SCUBA mail order catalog business, Performance Diving, in partnership with Performance Bicycle in Chapel Hill, NC.  He loved to dive and snorkel and he found underwater photography exciting. After living in Florida for many years, he and Judy moved to Costa Rica and then on to Uruguay before returning to the U.S. in 2020 and settling in Indiana. He found great comfort in his faith and was thankful for the support of his church community. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Kruer Stronczer Curry of Floyds Knobs, IN, his daughters Mary Beth Curry-Smith of Frederick, MD and Lynda Stuart Curry of Carrboro, NC, and his step children, Cheryl Stronczer Culbertson (Greg) of Glen Allen, VA, Christina Stronczer of Kapaa, HI, and A.J. Stronczer (Kelli) of Tampa, FL.; his brothers Philip Curry of St. Simon’s, GA and Harold Curry of Charlotte, NC and their families.  Predeceased by his parents Jane and Hugh Curry of Charleston, WV, He will be missed by his family, friends and church. There will be a celebration of life service September 23rd at 1:00 at Faithpoint Church in Floyds Knobs, IN.
